As you may know, Chess is among the oldest strategy games in existence.
Chess is an outstanding logic-based board game that strengthens abilities such as tactics, strategic thinking, and visual memory.
I am working on an application designed to let players of every skill level enjoy the game.

Chess pieces:

– The pawn advances one square forward, or two squares on its first move; it captures one square diagonally forward.
– The king can move one square vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
– The queen may travel any number of squares vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
– The rook can move any number of squares vertically or horizontally.
– The knight moves two squares vertically and one horizontally, or one square vertically and two horizontally.
– The bishop can travel any number of squares diagonally.

Important Chess situations:

– Check – a position in chess where the king is under direct attack from an opponent’s piece
– Checkmate – a position where the player whose turn it is to move is in check and has no legal way to avoid it.
– Stalemate – a position where the player to move has no legal move available but is not in check. (draw)

The objective of the game is to checkmate the opponent’s king.

Two special moves in Chess:

– Castling is a combined move involving the king and a rook that has not moved previously.
– En passant is a capture in which a pawn takes an opponent’s pawn after it advances over a square controlled by that pawn.
